5th & 6th Grade Fall 2022 Field Hockey Program

The Program:
This is a combined program where 5th and 6th grade players will be assigned to grade level teams. Teams have a practice twice a week and play either an intramural game or travel game on the weekend.
Tentative Schedule: Mondays and Thursdays 5:30-6:30 pm. Weekend games
Practice details to be confirmed closer to the season once coach schedules and field times are confirmed.
In past years, the optional practice have been held on an inside court for any 5th and 6th player who wish to participate. The clinic will not be team specific. It is designed to offer players the opportunity to advance their individual skills.
Wilton Youth Field Hockey participates in travel games as part of the Fairfield County Field Hockey League. Game schedules will be posted at the beginning of the season.
Program Goal:
The goal of the 5th and 6th Grade Program is to continue to develop each girl’s fundamental skills while introducing competitive play through a mix of intramural and travel games. Girls will play all positions to develop an understanding of the total game, working as a team and reaching individual and group goals while continuing to foster a love of the sport.
Coaching:
The WYFH Intramural program is coached by professional coaches. Led by the WYFH Head Coach and Player Development Director, Emily Townsend Prince.
**UNIFORM PROCESS**: Additional information to follow. Uniform styles are the same for all 5th-8th grade players and consist of a blue shirt and skort. Uniforms do not change significantly from year to year and can be reused. Ideally, 5th grade players may use this same uniform moving forward in the program. Players should wear navy socks (provided).
Equipment:
Players must provide their own stick, mouth guard and field hockey shin guards. Cleats or sneakers can be worn. Any player without protective gear will not be able to participate. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Refund Policy:
- Refunds will incur a $25.00 administrative fee. No refunds will be issued after August 1st.
